Holiday Streaming

The weather is finally cooling down. Lockdown rules are still in place and ramping up. Staying cozy inside while binging holiday movies is even more of an ideal way to bring in the season this year. From the classics to trending Christmas chick-flicks, there are almost endless ways to go full on holiday streaming. Here, a few of our favorites—and where to watch them.

Holidate – Netflix 

Holidate is a new Netflix Original film that is already ranked #9 in the Movie category on Netflix. This feel-good movie stars Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey. The two characters vie for a “no-strings-attached” relationship during each holiday, only to develop real feelings for each other along the way. Holidate is something that perfectly captures the excitement—and romance—of Christmas. 

A Bad Moms Christmas – Netflix

Following the original movie, Bad Moms, A Bad Moms Christmas is just as raunchy and comedic. This time, the three  moms want to have a laid back holiday season to spend time with their families. However, their plans come to a halt when their moms show up unexpectedly for a crazy Christmas. A Bad Moms Christmas, starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn, is a must-see for a more mature audience that is guaranteed to make you laugh. 

Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch – Netflix

In 2018, Illumination recreated the iconic How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The new kid-friendly animation version movie is called Dr. Suess’ The Grinch. Following the plot line of the original movie, this movie takes a goofier spin on Mr. Grinch’s Christmastime experience. On Netflix, The Grinch is currently ranked #8 in the U.S. today. 

Daddy’s Home 2 – Hulu (premium subscription) 

Father and stepfather Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell) must get along during Christmas to make their kids happy. However, working together turns into a competition of who can make the holidays better. Daddy’s Home 2 is a comedy rated PG-13 that is the holiday sequel to the original Daddy’s Home. Find it on Hulu with a Premium subscription. 

The Polar Express 

Even though The Polar Express was released sixteen years ago, it still remains an iconic holiday movie. Tom Hanks did the voiceover and motion-capture for five of the main characters. In that he perfectly portrayed the Christmas adventure of self-discovery while bringing in the holiday season. Rent this animated family-friendly film on platforms like YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and iTunes starting at $3.99. 

Elf – Hulu (premium subscription) 

Will Ferrell never fails to put a smile on everyone’s faces, especially when it comes to the holidays. Elf is the classic family-friendly movie that shows Buddy the Elf’s adventure to find his real family in New York. Stream this holiday staple on Hulu with a premium subscription. 

Black Christmas – HBO Max

Black Christmas is perfect for those who enjoy the thrill of horror movies and a holiday theme. Available on HBO Max, Black Christmas is about sorority sisters who prepare for their on-campus Christmas party. The plot thickens when they get faced with a bloody mystery that they need to fight and figure out.

A Christmas Prince – Netflix 

A Christmas Prince has been a popular Netflix Original since November 2017. The romantic film gives a sophisticated yet comedic spin on the holidays. A Christmas Prince is about a journalist who goes undercover to discover the world and scandals of a royal family. In 2018, Netflix followed up with a sequel called A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding. In 2019, a third movie in the series was release titled A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby. This movie trio is utterly heartwarming for the holidays.
