Prior to the pandemic, Frieze Los Angeles was all ablaze for its return this past February to Paramount Pictures Studios with a kickoff VIP event. Following the celebrity studded evening (pictured here), Frieze Los Angeles continued for the next few days, and is part of the bigger Frieze enterprise. Celebrating contemporary art, the dynamic culture of Los Angeles and its global imprint by both emerging and established artists. Its gallery displays featured more than 70 spaces from Los Angeles and around the world. In addition, curated programming also included lectures as well as films and artists’ projects on the backlot movie set at Paramount.
The VIP event was packed with LA’s art contributors and appreciators—a combination of Hollywood celebs, art industry royalty, corporate execs, journalists and more. The architect Kulapat Yantrasast of wHY designed a bespoke tent structure, and veteran art world expert, Bettina Koreek—as advocate, writer and founder of ForYourArt Los Angeles—acted as Frieze LA’s executive director.
